Sheriff Dan Langston chalked it up to a lack of training. The Paragould Daily Press reported that the incident happened on Oct. 10, when inmate Jacob Rodden ran out of the cell, shut the door and inserted the security pin, confining the officers inside with some of the inmates they were searching. Rodden, who then locked himself in a visitation booth, was placed in indefinite lockdown.
The four officers were rescued by a jail matron, without incident. Langston said the jail is outdated and has tremendous employee turnover. The sheriff says the officers won't be disciplined.
