Bruins' Thomas shuts out Senators

Thomas has 20 career NHL shutouts, five against the Senators.
David Krejci, Tyler Seguin, Milan Lucic and Jordan Caron scored to help the Bruins raise their record to 6-2. Brian Elliott made 21 saves for Ottawa.
At Toronto, Henrik Lundqvist stopped 36 shots for his 25th career NHL shutout as the New York Rangers beat Toronto.
The Maple Leafs were shut out for the second consecutive game and haven't scored in 122 minutes, 24 seconds. Toronto has recorded only seven goals in six games.
Brian Boyle and Ryan Callahan scored for New York, which snapped a two-game skid. Callahan scored on a penalty shot, providing more insurance in Lundqvist's first shutout of the season.
At Philadelphia, Jeff Carter and Chris Pronger both scored two goals, to back a strong goaltending performance by Sergei Bobrovsky, as Philadelphia topped the New York Islanders.
Kimmo Timonen and Andreas Nodl also scored for the Flyers, who have won three straight since a lackluster 2-1 loss to Columbus on Oct. 25. The slumping Islanders dropped their fourth in a row after a three-game winning streak.
At Raleigh, North Carolina, Brent Johnson made 33 saves, and Pascal Dupuis scored two goals to lead Pittsburgh over Carolina.
Maxime Talbot also scored for the Penguins, who snapped a three-game losing streak. Sidney Crosby had two assists.
The 34-year-old Johnson earned his 14th NHL shutout. He entered the game ranked second in the league in goals-against average and save percentage.
At Detroit, Pavel Datsyuk had two goals and an assist to lift Detroit past Nashville.
Brad Stuart, Tomas Holmstrom and Patrick Eaves also scored for Detroit. Ruslan Salei and Nicklas Lidstrom each had two assists, and Chris Osgood made 23 saves.
Joel Ward, Kevin Klein had goals for Nashville. Pekka Rinne stopped 23 shots.
At Montreal, David Booth scored from a penalty shot and Tomas Vokoun made 40 saves, leading Florida over Montreal.
Booth netted his fourth goal to put Florida up 2-1. He beat Carey Price midway through the second after he was hauled down by defenseman Jaroslav Spacek on a breakaway.
Michael Frolik and Shawn Matthias also scored for the Panthers, who had lost the first two games of their three-game trip to Canada.
At St. Paul, Minnesota, Marty Turco bounced back from a benching with 25 saves as Chicago beat Minnesota.
Troy Brouwer had a goal and an assist, Duncan Keith scored early in the third period and Jake Dowell added an empty-netter for the Blackhawks, who enjoyed plenty of support despite being on the road.
Marek Zidlicky's third-period goal wasn't enough for the Wild, who got 29 saves from Niklas Backstrom.
At Dallas, Andrew Raycroft made 34 saves for his eighth career shutout, and James Neal and Brenden Morrow scored power-play goals as Dallas snapped a three-game losing streak with a victory over Buffalo.
Steve Ott notched a short-handed goal and Trevor Daley scored at even strength, both in the third period.
Brad Richards had two assists for the Stars, who had lost the first three of a season-high six-game homestand.
Patrick Lalime stopped 37 shots for Buffalo in his second start of the season. Ryan Miller has started the other 10.
At St. Louis, Jay McClement recorded his first career hat trick, and T.J. Oshie and Brad Boyes scored in the shootout to lead St. Louis over Atlanta.
Jaroslav Halak stopped both shots in the shootout to help the Blues to their fourth straight victory.
Atlanta's Ondrej Pavelec stopped 24 of the first 25 shots he faced in his return after fainting and sustaining a concussion early in the Thrashers' season-opening win over Washington on Oct. 8.
At Denver, Peter Budaj made 33 saves, and Paul Stastny and Chris Stewart had a goal and an assist each for Colorado against Columbus.
David Liffiton, Cody McLeod and David Jones also scored, and Milan Hejduk and David Winnik had two assists each for the Avalanche.
Rick Nash scored a power-play goal for Columbus.
At Glendale, Arizona, Dan Ellis stopped 23 shots and recorded his 11th career shutout as Tampa Bay beat Phoenix.
Ellis, signed as a free agent after three seasons with Nashville, got his first shutout with the Lightning.
The Lightning's first goal was from newly acquired Mattias Ritola. Steven Stamkos netted his ninth goal of the season, and Adam Hall also scored.
At San Jose, California, Dany Heatley scored twice and Joe Thornton matched a franchise scoring record as San Jose beat Anaheim.
Logan Couture, Niclas Wallin and Patrick Marleau also scored for the Sharks, who won their second straight and for the fourth time in five games.
Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry scored for the Ducks.
At Calgary, Alberta, Alex Ovechkin netted two power-play goals in a 12-second span as Washington scored six times in the second period in a rout of Calgary.
Ovechkin beat Miikka Kiprusoff with a one-timer off a pass from Mike Green at 3:43 to tie it. The two-time MVP netted his seventh of the season 12 seconds later.
At Los Angeles, Jarret Stoll had a goal and two assists, and Jonathan Quick made 39 saves to lead Los Angeles over New Jersey.
Justin Williams added a goal and an assist, and Michael Handzus scored a power-play goal for the Kings, whose 4-0 home start is their best since the 1988-89 season.
Matt Taormina scored and Martin Brodeur made 18 saves for the Devils, who are off to the worst start in franchise history.
