The scouts are helping pilgrims cross roads, guiding those who are lost and pushing the old and infirm in wheelchairs. Many scouts are also touring the courtyards around the Holy Mosque looking for pilgrims who may need assistance.
The scouts are working in conjunction with Madinah’s Guides Organization and the Ministry of Haj. They have also been equipped with GPS devices to help pilgrims find their way.
Some scouts are also assisting health workers at medical centers around the Holy Mosque to record the names of sick pilgrims visiting the centers.
They are also distributing food packets supplied by charity organizations to all incoming and outgoing pilgrims.
“Our scouts have guided more than 18,000 to their accommodation. They have also guided thousands of pilgrims who lost their way to their Haj missions if they had their addresses with them. Any pilgrim who does not have their addresses with them is taken to the Missing Persons office. They have also pushed the wheelchairs of 5,000 aged pilgrims in the early part of this Haj season,” the statement said.
In selfless service of Hajis, scouts win hearts
