“The members prayed for the king to get well soon and return home on full recovery,” Shoura Council Vice President Bandar Al-Hajjar told reporters on Sunday following a regular session of the council.
Al-Hajjar said every citizen who was worried about the king's health is now happy following the successful operation.
“We all prayed for his good health, happiness and longevity,” Al-Hajjar said, pointing out that King Abdullah has been a dynamic leader and has earned global fame as the “King of Humanity.”
He said the king should return safe and sound for him to continue the development work and reforms that would greatly contribute to the nation's progress.
The house also strongly commended the support offered by Crown Prince Sultan, deputy premier, minister of defense and aviation and inspector general, and Interior Minister Prince Naif, second deputy premier, in the forward march of the Kingdom.
The council also welcomed the return of Riyadh Gov. Prince Salman following his treatment abroad.
The house congratulated Prince Naif, who is also chairman of the Supreme Haj Council, and Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, chairman of the Central Haj Committee, for the successful completion of Haj.
“Under the noble efforts of King Abdullah, the supply of Zamzam water, partial operation of the Mashair Railway and stoning in the Jamrat areas were well managed by the authorities to the satisfaction of millions of pilgrims,” Al-Hajjar said.
The house also appreciated the untiring efforts of Prince Naif in combating terrorism and making prompt action to apprehend criminals who went against the laws of the Kingdom.
“Such actions contributed to security and stability of the Kingdom where its citizens cherish peaceful life in our dear country,” Al-Hajjar said.
Muhammad Al-Ghamdi, secretary-general of the Shoura Council, said the house also approved a 13-article draft convention between India and the Kingdom. The items in the convention included scientific and technical cooperation between the two countries and ways to improve knowledge economy of the Kingdom.
The council also unanimously approved a draft agreement between the Kingdom and Singapore for the avoidance of double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income.
The council read the annual report of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology for the fiscal year 2009/2010, submitted by the Committee on Transport, Communications and Information Technology.
