Arab News also noticed a number of Civil Defense teams taking position in districts on the flood water courses in the east of the Haramain Expressway where floodwaters can collect in wadis.
The traffic police were struggling hard to keep the roads leading to the Corniche free from congestion as many families in the other districts of the city were seen heading for the beach to enjoy the rain and cool winds.
However, Civil Defense and the municipality took precautionary measures to counter any emergency as the Presidency of Meteorology and Environment has warned of likely showers.
Jeddah municipality also has plans for emergency rescue and evacuation in the event of any flood occurring in the city.
Twenty-two government departments including health directorate, National Guard, Red Crescent and Saudi Electricity Company apart from Civil Defense had participated in the trial rescue operations earlier this year.
Shortly before the drizzles started, Civil Defense and Municipality reassured people that the situation was under control particularly since the Musk Lake, which with its millions of cubic meters of sewage water had in the past posed huge threat to their security, was drained.
Despite all the efforts to reassure the local residents, some people told Arab News that they would prefer to stay away from the area over the next two days.
