Second Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Prince Naif called for greater cooperation among Arab League countries to fight crimes and establish justice. “We hope that meeting would contribute to expanding cooperation and coordination between our countries in security matters, fighting crimes and realizing justice,” Prince Naif told the ministers. Prince Naif, who is leading the Saudi delegation to the meeting, expressed his hope the conference would contribute to activating past resolutions and agreements to strengthen Arab security cooperation.
He emphasized the importance of the meeting, saying it would contribute to boosting regional and international security. “We have to discuss prospects of strengthening Arab and international cooperation in fighting crimes,” the prince said.
He also emphasized the need to upgrading regulations relating to combating crimes and trying criminals, drying up sources of terror funds. “We should also make greater efforts to uncover the plots of terrorist groups and protect our societies from crimes and deviant ideologies,” the Saudi minister said.
Speaking about the role of security in boosting development in the Arab world, he said: “We have to create an environment free from terrorism, crimes and corruption to realize progress and prosperity.”
He referred to the key efforts of Arab countries in combating terrorism. “In 1998, Arab interior and justice ministers approved anti-terror agreement,” Prince Naif said, adding that it was first of its kind.
Meanwhile, Prince Naif held a meeting with Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa and discussed prospects of strengthening cooperation between Arab interior and justice ministers.
