"Orders have been issued to the security authorities to arrest all those involved in the attacks on public departments and institutions prior to sending them to courts,” Brigadier Aref Weshah, director of Maan police force, was quoted as saying by the official Petra news agency.
On Tuesday, angry mobs carried out arson attacks on government offices, police stations and private properties in Maan, 220 kilometers south of Amman, after the death of two residents of the tribal town on Monday. A truck driver was also killed in the area in what appeared to be a retaliatory action.
According to local media, rioters were protesting the failure of the authorities to arrest the killers.
Weshah said that life was returning to normal in Maan on Wednesday after the authorities moved in a large number of security reinforcements to the city.
