Overnutrition is the cause of the obesity epidemic which is sweeping the affluent nations of the world.
It is all too easy to overeat today: In affluent countries families have more money to spend, and they eat out or order take-away rather than eating traditional home cooked food. Supermarkets want your money and are designed to tempt us to buy more food than we need. You only wanted one packet of biscuits but if you buy 2 packets you get one free! And we all love a bargain.
Restaurants and hotels often serve up huge portions and at buffets we feel we should eat it all as we have paid for it.
Sadly, with increased wealth, our values have changed. Traditional healthy diets and hard-work habits of the past have changed in favor of Western high fat processed ready-made food. The young prefer a hamburger to a home cooked traditional meal. We live in a world where basic simple nutrition is ignored because there is more money to be made from manufactured food. We are constantly being indoctrinated to desire these attractively packaged foods. Fizzy drinks; flavored chips; cakes; biscuits; desserts; ready-made meals; takeaway; cereals; sweets. They are all portrayed as foods that will make us feel good.
Even intelligent professionals fail to take the time to think about what they are eating because they are too busy. Few people really take the time to become nutritionally literate. And nutritional literacy is so important that I believe it should be taught to the young in schools.
Most people go along with the mainstream and eat what they are told to eat by food manufactures. Everyone is susceptible to strategies of persuasion used in advertising. Food giants use emotional anchoring to attach good feelings to their brands, so that in the supermarket you unconsciously experience a preference for a particular product or brand without knowing why. But we should think carefully about what we eat as it will have a bearing on our future health. Food has consequences: Every input has an output. It is a matter of science.
Many people believe that your genes control your health — while they do have an effect — your diet and lifestyle control the expression of your genes. For example, a freshly picked apple is a living food and a much better snack than a colored, plastic-wrapped, factory-made cake containing chemicals.
Overnutrition leads to obesity and poor health such as high blood pressure; painful joints; skin disorders; and high cholesterol. Also poor self-esteem and lack of energy and mobility. Obesity really is no fun. It is very important to understand that the food industry is big business and is about making money. We need to be disciplined and eat simple healthy food by routine and I have devised a healthy eating guide which will help you to achieve this. Send and e-mail to [email protected] for a free copy. Take control today by planning your meals and giving your body healthy food 90% of the time.
It is always important to be gentle with your hair when brushing especially when the hair is wet. The daily use of TEK hair brushes that have widely spaced wooden “bristles” will avoid hair being pulled out and help the hair acquire strength. In addition, the resulting massage of the scalp encourages the blood circulation in the scalp, strengthens the hair bulbs, does not clog the keratin and removes excess sebum.
