NSHR in bid to obtain IDs for orphans

They said many orphans have contacted the society to help them obtain IDs which they need to enter universities and take exams.
“There are more than 200 orphans Kingdomwide facing this problem,” one source said, adding that the majority of the orphans could still have one living parent.
The source added that in some cases of illegitimate pregnancies, the expatriate mothers were deported, leaving their sons or daughters behind.
“We have a case like this which we raised with the concerned authorities but has not been settled yet,” he added.
The source confirmed that orphans in the Kingdom were being taken good care of by both the government and the private sector. He said there were programs for some families to sponsor orphans, in addition to providing them with education and training to help them become useful members of society.
“There are programs to send orphans abroad to complete their higher education,” he added.
The source said such programs for orphans are not found anywhere else in the world. “There are programs to help them get married and establish families in addition to providing them with job opportunities,” he said.
