In a letter to the White House, APN argued that such US action is “the appropriate response” to the Palestinians’ strategy of building international recognition for an independent Palestinian state.
The letter was signed by APN’s Chairman of the Board Martin I. Bresler and the organization’s President and CEO Debra DeLee.
The letter says that the fragile and unsustainable status quo in the region calls for re-accrediting and re-launching “a peace process that can quickly deliver results.”
This, APN’s letter says, could include laying down US permanent status parameters or a US peace plan.
APN is sending the letter as the White House releases a new policy statement on the current impasse in Israeli-Palestinian peace efforts.
The new policy statement discusses the Palestinian efforts to build international recognition for an independent Palestine.
It states that such a strategy holds dangers for both sides and is not an alternative to a negotiated settlement.
