The launching ceremony was attended by Labor Minister Adel Fakieh and Mohamed Al-Mady, CEO of Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (SABIC). An agreement was signed between the Labor Ministry, the Royal Commission and SABIC to employ more Saudis.
"The Royal Commission and SABIC give top priority to training and employment of Saudis," Prince Saud told reporters. Saudis to be employed in operation and maintenance jobs will receive salaries ranging between SR2,000 and SR10,000.
Prince Saud said contractors would be asked to provide on the job-training to Saudis. "Saudization of a certain percentage of jobs will be a basic condition in the contract," he said, adding that defaulters among contractors would be fined.
Al-Mady said the initiatives would contribute to reducing unemployment among the Saudis. "We'll provide intensive training for Saudis to take up various jobs," he said, adding that the first batch of trainees would be recruited in the second quarter of 2011.
Minister Fakieh said the Royal Commission and SABIC would be able to play a major role in creating jobs for Saudis. "We hope other sectors would also come forward with initiatives to employ Saudis," he added.
