He said it was the Civil Defense that found out the fire was man-made after quenching it.
“The security organs are now investigating the woman and will officially inform the Department of Health Affairs after they have completed their work,” he said.
Hussain said the department will issue a detailed report about the incident once investigations were completed and added that it is the security and judicial organs that will decide the punishment.
According to local press reports, the woman reportedly confessed to setting ablaze a reserve room attached to the nursery. She said she did that while she was under extreme psychological pressure. The woman was also being questioned for two other recent fires at the nursery.
According to the reports, the woman had only confessed to be behind one of the three fires.
Police spokesman Maj. Abdul Mohsen Al-Maiman said the woman is being held at Jarwal police station.
Spokesman of the Civil Defense Lt. Col. Ali Al-Muntashiri confirmed that the woman confessed to starting one of the three fires that broke out in the hospital during the past week.
