Turki, who is also chairman of the Saudi Environmental Society, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Jeddah Mayoralty to promote environment awareness among various strata of society.
He said the society’s new strategy aims at increasing the degree of awareness among the public about the need to protect their environment. “The society will conduct a number of researches and studies to support its objectives. It will also provide consultancy services on environment management and carry out a number of projects with the private sector’s support,” he said.
Jeddah Mayor Hani Aburas emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation between the various sectors that play an active role in society to improve environment awareness. He hoped that the MoU would lead to greater cooperation among various players to protect the environment and keep Jeddah clean and tidy.
“This will not only protect the city’s residents from diseases but also keep the environment hygienic by taking steps to reduce pollution,” the mayor said. The society will encourage environment awareness and education programs and campaigns.
