This new proposal is
intended to ease the transportation of goods and help shipping. Modon
Director-General Tawfig Bin Fawzan Alrabiah said on Wednesday that Modon has
signed an agreement with a foreign company, which will assist in the
three-month study project.
Alrabiah
said that the study will provide adequate information that will serve the basis
for connecting industrial cities and for establishing new ports in some industrial
cities.
Referring to the project, Abdullah Al-Faris, a logistical
service development official of Modon, said the linking will also help in
carrying goods to and from the Kingdom's seaports of the Kingdom. Modon currently oversees 20 industrial
cities, which are operational in different cities of Saudi Arabia.
At present, more than 3,000 industrial projects are
operational in the industrial cities of the
Kingdom. This represents 60 percent of the total Saudi
factories with cumulative investments exceeding SR250 billion.
