Former Test cricketer Sarfaraz Nawaz joins MQM

He
announced his decision to quit the Pakistan People’s Party and join the MQM at
a press conference also addressed by MQM leaders Farooq Sattar, Babar Ghauri
and Raza Haroon.
Sarfaraz
Nawaz, who was former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto’s adviser on sports said, “At present, the PPP is
involved in corruption. Its corruption has endangered national institutions. My
decision to join the MQM is primarily meant to weed out corruption from the
society.”
Nawaz
said the MQM is a party of the middle class and it alone can salvage the
country and end mismanagement and corruption.
Speaking at the press conference, Sattar
said the MQM is a national party and it intends to establish itself in all
parts of Punjab. He said the MQM alone can serve the cause of the downtrodden.
