Errani posed little challenge for the former Australian Open
semifinalist and the result appeared clear from the opening exchanges with
Hantuchova dictating the play through solid serves and powerful groundstrokes.
The match was a stark contrast to Hantuchova's ill-tempered
but entertaining semi-final against twice-champion Vera Zvonareva as she
breezed through the first set and barely gave her opponent a chance to find her
feet.
Errani mustered some brief resistance early in the second
set but Hantuchova soon wrestled back control and the match became one-way
traffic. The Slovak clinched the title without dropping a set in the whole
tournament.
"I really focused on my play, point by point, not
giving away anything, I was just trying to get the job done and I was really
hungry for another title," Hantuchova told reporters.
"I just showed that I really can focus and I'm mentally
physically strong." She said her performance in the Thai beach town had
come as a surprise to her.
"When
you least expect something, that's when good things happen and that happened to
me this week," she said.
