RIM has failed to meet a January 31 deadline to make available its encrypted corporate email service to Indian authorities.
The government has threatened to shut down the services if its demands are not met.
RIM's India unit said in a statement it had been assured that "any policy relating to 'lawful access' requirements for encrypted enterprise or VPN telecommunications will be applied equitably, broadly, and simultaneously to all such products and services that use encryption in India".
India's government is currently in talks with mobile phone makers on how they can give authorities access to RIM's encrypted email service, which run on their networks.
