Larrazabal's 6-under 66 gave him an 11-under 205 total and a
one-stroke lead in the dual European-Asian Tours event.
Also at 11 under was Robert Coles of England, who drove the
green on the par-4 15th and sank a 25-foot eagle putt.
He still had two holes to play when the round was suspended
because of darkness.
“I rolled in a very nice, slippery downhill putt from around
25 feet,” Coles said. “I'm glad it went in because I'm not sure where it was
going to finish.” There were 23 others still on the course at DLF Golf and amp;
Country Club, where morning fog delayed the start for a third straight day.
The home challenge stayed in the hunt as the trio trailing
the leaders by one included two Indians, SSP Chowrasia, winner of the 2008
Indian Masters, and rookie Sujjan Singh.
Chowrasia (67), Sujjan (68) and Argentine Rafa Echenique
(67) were at 10 under.
Jeev Milkha Singh, who completed his seven holes from his
second round on Saturday morning to move into the sole lead at 9 under after 36
holes, was even par through 13, the last of which he bogeyed in darkness. At 9
under, he retained hope of a fourth European win and seventh Asian.
“I struggled a bit in the morning but then settled down with
some good birdies between the sixth and ninth,” Singh said.
Also in the group of six at 9 under were US Open runner-up
Gregory Havret (68), first-round leader Robert-Jan Derksen (68), Thai pair
Chapchai Nirat (68) and Thaworn Wiratchant (3 under through 16) and Filipino
Angelo Que (68).
Larrazabal, whose only previous European win was as a rookie
qualifier at the 2008 Open de France, birdied three of four holes in the middle
of his round, bogeyed the 12th but got back the stroke on the par-5 14th. The
eagle on the par-5 18th, hitting out of an old divot onto the green to within
10 feet, made his day.
“I
knew that the birdie chances would come because I was playing well,” he said. “I
really got going with the birdie on the sixth and it was a really good day
after that.”
