“The center has launched the project with the encouragement of the Makkah governorate with the aim of helping women to sell their food products to restaurants and shopping centers, particularly during Haj and Umrah seasons,” said Basmah Al-Omair, executive director of the center.
“We also aim to empower women to undertake other jobs, such as computer-related work, tailoring or any other trade a woman can carry one inside her house.”
The center and the women’s section at the Jeddah municipality had a meeting to discuss issues related to issuing licenses to women who wish to market cooked food under the project.
The meeting also discussed suggestions on methods of applying for licenses and sending women inspectors to the work places to ensure they fulfill the required specifications.
