Hague says he has seen “some information to suggest (Qaddafi) is on his way there at the moment.” He was speaking after a meeting of EU foreign ministers on Monday, in which they sharply condemned the Libyan authorities for their crackdown against pro-democracy protesters.
But EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton dismissed Hague’s claim, saying she knew nothing about it.
EU officials who attended the ministerial meeting also described the report as “unfounded rumors.”

In the Venezuelan capital, Caracas, a senior source in the government said there was no truth in reports that Qaddafi was traveling to the South American oil-producing nation led by his ally President Hugo Chavez.
The Caracas government “denies such information,” the source told Reuters.
Several media had also reported rumors that Qaddafi was headed to Venezuela. Chavez and Gaddafi have visited each other and enjoy warm political relations.
