Director of anti-drug efforts in Makkah province Maj. Gen. Abdul Aziz Al-Souli said the workshop is aimed at improving the skills of the officers of the directorate in making use of the various methods of spreading awareness among the public about the dangers of drug abuse.
“The employees of the directorate will enhance their skills in employing the techniques for creating preventive awareness,” said Col. Muhammad Al-Shalwi, director of the anti-drugs branch directorate in Makkah city in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency. “They will also benefit from the experiences of experts at regional and international levels in awareness activities in media to combat the drug menace.”
The workshops will also discuss special awareness programs meant for families and spreading the awareness by SMS.
Experts who read papers in the workshop will be psychologists, academics, social scientists and media personalities, he said.
The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, Umm Al-Qura University of Makkah and Taif University will also participate in the workshops.
