Swedish daily Dagens Nyheter quotes Environment Minister Andreas Carlgren as saying the state-owned Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute is falling below its goal of 85 percent accuracy. He says one out of every six SMHI 24-hour predictions was wrong last year.
The minister says “they need to get better at it” since accurate forecasts are particularly important during holidays when Swedes plan to get behind the wheel or venture out to sea.
Carlgren’s spokesman Henrik Dahlsson confirmed the quotes but declined further comment. SMHI could not be reached.
