The demand comes following a recent report that the inspectors of Ministry of Commerce recently seized 32 smuggled devices to tap telephone conversations. It is unclear if these products were typical recording devices with phone recording capabilities or whether they were specialized products.
The use of listening and spying devices is illegal in the Kingdom. Any violation of the regulation involves jail time up to a year and fine of not more than SR500,000 under the clauses of the cyber crime regulation.
