Prince Mishari stressed the importance of executing local tourism projects as soon as possible, especially because summer is approaching.
The governor made the call during a meeting with officials of the Baha Events Executive Committee, which was recently formed by the local Tourism Development Council.
The meeting followed a tourism workshop on Sunday in Baha, attended by Prince Mishari and Prince Sultan bin Salman, president of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquity (SCTA).
Prince Mishari pointed out that the Kingdom enjoys many attractive tourist destinations. “Tourism is no longer a luxury activity. Rather, it has become an integrated industry upon which the economy of many countries depend,” he said.
He added that there are eight projects of urban and cultural heritage being carried out in Baha in collaboration with the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities. “A tourist doesn’t need just the fresh weather or charming nature. He also needs appropriate places for relaxation and enjoyment with the family, especially in the evening,” he said.
Providing beautiful and clean places with clean restaurants, cafes, children's entertainment and shopping facilities could be reasons for tourists to extend their stay in Baha. This would increase the rate of a tourist's expenditure and reflect positively on the economy, in addition to creating jobs.”
Talking at the workshop, Prince Sultan said that Baha, located south of Makkah province, is not only a center for tourism but also an important “economic tourist axis to create jobs to its residents.”
