Indian groups host cultural event

Hifz-ur-Rahman, second secretary for information and cultural affairs at the Embassy of India, was the chief guest and Dr. M.S. Karimuddin, chairman of the Higher Council for Indian Schools, was the guest of honor. Other guests included Consul (Consular) R.S. Khariyat and Consul (Administration) and HOC B.K. Aseeja. Arif Quraishi, president of the two groups, and ICSJ patron Dr. Dilshad Shamsi, organized the annual event.
The meeting paid tribute to the sacrifices of the country's freedom fighters. National and patriotic songs marked the evening.
Singer Salamat presented some of the old Bollywood hits, aside from his own movie songs.
Keyboard player Pathan Hyath Khan accompanied Salamat. Both were presented with a shawl and bouquet. Local singers who participated in the program include Jimmy Al-Waheedy, Mujeeb ur Rahman, Saif Uddin, Amjad and Rehana Saleem. Arif Bhaldar compered.
