German news agency DAPD reported Wednesday that the Beluga shipping company confirmed pirates had left the ship, the MV Beluga Nomination. The company did not provide any details about the release.
The ship was attacked north of the Seychelles on Jan. 22 with 12 crew members on board. At least one crew member was killed by pirates and two others managed to escape in a lifeboat.
Pirates have continued attacks off East Africa despite patrols by a flotilla of international warships.
