Royals 4 Athletics 3: In Kansas City, Missouri, Mike Aviles’ sacrifice fly scored Jarrod Dyson from third base to give Kansas City its sixth walkoff win this season.
Billy Butler singled leading off the ninth against Brandon McCarthy (1-3), who experienced his second complete-game loss of the year.
Dyson, a pinch-runner, sped to third when Jeff Francoeur singled. Rookie Eric Hosmer , who earlier singled for his first major league hit, was walked intentionally to bring up Aviles.
Joakim Soria (2-0) worked the ninth and got the victory.
Rangers 7 Yankees 5: In Arlington, Texas, Julio Borbon drove in three runs, including the go-ahead run with a squeeze bunt, and Texas held on after blowing an early five-run lead.
With Mitch Moreland running toward home on a 1-1 pitch in the sixth, Borbon laid down the bunt and almost beat the throw to first. That broke a 5-all tie before Michael Young had an RBI single, his fourth hit, later in the inning.
Young homered and Borbon had a two-run triple as the Rangers built a 5-0 lead after two innings off Bartolo Colon .
Indians 4 Angels 3: In Anaheim, California, Alex White pitched six innings for his first major league win and Cleveland’s Shin-Soo Choo doubled home the tying and go-ahead runs to snap an 0-for-18 drought since his arrest on DUI charges.
White (1-0) allowed three runs and seven hits, including a two-run homer by Vernon Wells, in his second major league start. He struck out six and walked two.
Tony Sipp and Vinnie Pestano each pitched a scoreless inning and Chris Perez worked a perfect ninth for his 10th save in 11 chances.
White Sox 6 Mariners 0: In Seattle, Gavin Floyd held Seattle to three singles in eight innings.
Floyd (4-2) struck out six and walked two. Tony Pena pitched the ninth. It was the second shutout of the season for the White Sox. The Mariners have been blanked three times.
The bottom three White Sox hitters — Alex Rios , Gordon Beckham and Brent Morel — combined to score four runs and drive in two. Rios was 4 for 4. Entering the game, the three had a combined .192 average.
