It said staff at the hospital foiled the attempt. Each criminal was imprisoned for 12 months.
The newspaper said one of them pretended to be seeking treatment in the hospital but that raised staff’s suspicion and, after being  searched, drugs were found on him.
The trio was handed over to the Prosecution and Investigation Commission, which took them to court.
Commenting on the case, Deputy Director of Al-Amal hospital Sulaiman Al-Zaidi said the arrest of the three smugglers was an achievement to be added to their war against drug smugglers who spread poison in society.
He said the criminals were not content by just victimizing people outside, but they tried to target patients in hospitals.
He added that in order to stop any attempt to smuggle drugs to the addicts being treated, extra security personnel man the hospital gates.
Al-Zaidi said as an extra precautionary measure, visitors and workers were thoroughly searched. The hospital, specializing in the treatment of addicts, has 220 beds for men and women, which Al-Zaidi said were not enough.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of the Psychological Committee Dr. Muhammad Shaweesh called for establishing special courts for drug traffickers. He told the newspaper that some of the addicts completely destroyed their veins and that substitute veins had to be found to feed their cravings.
