“During preliminary investigations, the suspect admitted to investigators that he wrote more than 188 checks in large amount of money to various people without the employers’ knowledge,” said Jeddah police spokesman Brig. Misfer Al-Juaid. Al-Juaid said the suspect is of Arab nationality and is currently being held at police detention center.
In Mushrefa, a 30-year-old man working as family driver, was arrested for allegedly tricking area residents of his ability of recruiting house cleaners from Indonesia.
Al-Juaid told Arab News that the suspect who is of Indonesian nationality, had taken a large amount of money from several people who trusted his words of bringing house cleaners. Al-Juaid said residents’ suspicion was raised when the suspect failed to fulfill his promise and attempted to flee the city.
Meanwhile, eight Africans were arrested in Al-Khumra area, south of Jeddah.
The gang of eight was responsible of stealing electrical power and extracting cables from the ground.
“The gang was responsible of committing several criminal activities in the area,” said Al-Juaid.
