The April attack was one of the worst terrorist acts to hit the North African kingdom.
The seven suspects appeared in court Thursday. Lawyers for both the victims and the defense pleaded their cases. The trial will resume Aug. 18.
The explosion tore through the Argana cafe in Marrakech’s old town, a popular tourist destination. Several of those killed were foreigners.
Among the charges facing the suspects are premeditated murder, explosives possession, and membership in a banned religious group, according to the state news agency MAP.
Moroccan police say the main suspect has loyalties to Al-Qaeda and tried to travel to Iraq and Chechnya.
