Police said Thursday that a masked man entered the office in a parliamentary office building on Wednesday evening and forced the cashier to hand over money before fleeing.
About an hour later, passers-by found the corpse of a 48-year-old man in an eastern Berlin suburb. Police said he had died of a shot to the head and had a bag containing cash, a mask and weapons.
Police say the man was an officer currently assigned to the parliament complex. They say initial findings suggest that his suicide was due to unspecified problems in his private life.
