The federal prosecutors’ office said Tuesday that Mehmet A., 28, was arrested in Freiburg and Ridvan O., 28, in Duesseldorf. PKK guerrillas have been fighting for self-rule in southeastern Turkey since 1984 and the two apprehended Sunday are suspected of trying to recruit new members.
Their last names were not released in accordance with German privacy laws.
In a separate case, police say they searched eight residences and an office in the Stuttgart area of two Turks and four Germans of Turkish origin suspected of raising money for a foreign terrorist organization.
The organization was not identified and there were no arrests.
