Chavan recommended “removal from service” in very clear word in his remarks against the tainted official. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has already registered four cases against Tayade and investigations are on.
“Chavan has cleared the file a long time back but the legal formalities will take its own course,” said an official.
Tayade had been accused of fudging his birth records to continue in office. Though born on Nov. 10, 1950, Tayade had managed to change the records to 1952. The chief minister signed the file for Tayade’s sacking which will soon be sent to the concerned department.
Tayade has also been accused of corruption in the purchase of medical equipment worth 3.5 million rupees.
As per his correct birth date, Tayade should have retired in 2008. But, not only did he manage to manipulate the service records, Tayade also got the government to bring in a new regulation increasing the retirement age from 58 to 62. He was the biggest beneficiary of this decision as many of his batchmates had already retired from service.
According to a high ranking Anti-Corruption Bureau official the decks are now cleared to file charge sheet against Tayade and arrest him.
