A decision to this effect was taken during a meeting of MES officials chaired by its President Dr. Fasal Gafoor, said E.P. Ubaidulla, general secretary of MES Jeddah Committee.
“We as a reputable educational organization have plans to establish schools, and art and science colleges in Saudi Arabia, following the rules and regulations of the Saudi Higher Education Ministry,” he said.
Addressing a press conference earlier, MES President Gafoor said his organization was making efforts to establish off-campus centers of reputable Indian universities in Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries.
Gafoor highlighted MES's efforts to promote education in Kerala, especially among the Muslim community. At present MES runs 20 arts, science and professional colleges in various parts of the state, including a medical college and two engineering colleges.
The organization, which was established in 1964, is working on two new engineering colleges in Ernakulam and Kozhikode districts.
“With ever increasing support from the community and well wishers, MES looks forward to establishing advanced educational institutions and launching a variety of social welfare programs,” Gafoor said.
The last four decades have witnessed a remarkable transformation in the educational status of Muslims in Kerala, Gafoor said, adding that the driving force behind this effort has been MES, the biggest educational agency of the Muslim community in India with thousands of life members and hundreds of institutions.
“MES believes that school education is of paramount importance and great care is given in starting new schools in almost all the districts of Kerala. MES runs more than 140 different types of large and medium schools, including residential schools and English medium schools,” Gafoor said.
