“Since the time of the late King Abdul Aziz, the government has pursued an open-door policy where the rulers would receive citizens, listen to their complaints and resolve their problems. All successive rulers sticked to this policy,” Prince Salman said.
He said the government’s open-door policy reflected a true picture of the relationship between the Saudi rulers and citizens.
The prince said the open-door policy would enable government officials to listen to suggestions from citizens and expatriates and hear their complaints against their departments. “The official will have an opportunity to know his department better,” he added.
Prince Salman asked all heads of department in Riyadh to fix at least an hour every day to receive citizens and listen to their complaints with a view to solving them.
He said the system would enable the government to closely supervise the work of all ministries and easily detect any shortcomings.
“Any citizen can reach the highest authority in the country, and justice will be carried out on his behalf,” he said.
Prince Salman gave the government departments a month to fix schedules for listening to complaints from the public.
