Mark Lipdo, a coordinator for a Christian group called the Stefanos Foundation, says 13 are thought dead in an overnight Friday attack in a village near the city of Jos. He says others are missing and feared dead. Jos sits on the dividing line between Nigeria’s largely Christian south and Muslim north.
Pam Ayuba, an adviser to the governor of Plateau state, confirmed the attack and said officials are seeking more details.
The incident follows an overnight Thursday attack in which 12 people were killed.
Jos sits in Nigeria’s “middle belt,” where dozens of ethnic groups vie for control of fertile lands and political and economic power.
