“She could not present a complete plan for reintegration,” Dominique Etienne, the president of the tribunal, told a courthouse in Mons, in the south of Belgium.
Michelle Martin, who was imprisoned in 1996 for her part in helping Dutroux kidnap six girls, four of whom were killed or died of neglect, was cleared for release in May this year, having served half her 30-year jail sentence.
A plan to house her in a convent in France fell through after France’s justice minister overruled it.
The Belgian court will re-examine Thursday’s decision in May 2012, Etienne said.
