Wales is sure there won’t be a repeat of their epic 2007 World Cup match when the teams meet again on Sunday in their World Cup Pool D finale at Waikato Stadium.
To recap: Fiji led 25-3, Wales rallied to hit the front after halftime, the lead changed twice more, and Fiji won a breathtaking contest with a try four minutes from time. Wales coach Gareth Jenkins was fired the next morning.
This should have been relegated to the archives by now, but last November, in their first match since that brilliant day in Nantes, Fiji produced another amazing effort and drew 16-16 with a vengeance-minded Wales at Millennium Stadium.
The Fijians have become the hot coals Wales can’t walk over.
