Foreign Affairs Minister Sam Kutesa, ruling party chief whip John Nasasira and Mwesigwa Rukutana from the Labor Ministry stepped down from their jobs on Wednesday so they could concentrate on the charges they face.
Ugandan media reported that the three pleaded innocent to charges of abuse of office and causing a financial loss in court on Thursday.
Kutesa is also accused of taking bribes from a company exploring for oil in the East African nation.
The high-level resignations come just a week after Uganda’s former vice president was remanded in prison over corruption charges.
