Terming the warning issued by Patil in Pune on Wednesday that stern action would be taken if Advani’s long march disturbs communal harmony when it enters the state on Oct. 17, Munde mocked at Patil and said the state government can not take any action against Advani’s bus tour.
Lashing out at Patil and the Congress-Nationalist Congress Party (NCP)-led Democratic Front government in the state, Munde said, “Patil is talking sheer nonsense and rubbish. This is the most corrupt government that we have seen since independence and the tour undertaken by Advani is about anti-corruption, black money and terrorism. It is not going to create any communal rift. I challenge Patil from stopping the tour.”
The BJP leader further said, “I demand that Patil withdraw his statement adding that the BJP would be welcoming Advani’s caravan in the state with fanfare.
Such tours had changed the nature of governance in the country in the past. Patil should not think that he can act like former Bihar Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad Yadav, who had halted Advani’s chariot tour when he was the chief minister of the state,” Munde added.
In another development veteran anti-corruption crusader and social activist Anna Hazare said in his village in Ralegaon Siddhi on Thursday that his opposition to the Congress did not mean that he was supporting the BJP or any other party. “My stand is not influenced by political motive. I am not biased when it comes to extending support to any political party either in power or in the opposition.”
Hazare further said “Before casting their votes, people should keep in mind the candidate’s character and his contribution to the society. People should vote such candidates who always think of the society at large and of well-being of the country. Only such people are capable of being elected to maintain the purity of our democracy,” he added
