This was the second conference that featured tailor-made courses for Middle Eastern professionals.
The conference featured educational lectures and three workshops daily. It aimed to raise the knowledge of radiologists specializing in breast cancer by informing them of the latest scientific and technical methods assisting in the early detection of the disease.
Dr. Sami Badawood, director of Health Affairs in Jeddah, stressed the importance of early detection of the breast cancer, which can help in successfully beating the disease. He referred to the role of the Ministry of Health in supporting such conferences that aim to protect the community from such life-threatening diseases.
Dr. Iman Baroum, breast consultant radiologist at King Abdul Aziz Hospital, said the conference was one of the most important to be held in Saudi Arabia.
She said a number of Saudi women doctors participated in the event alongside foreign doctors from Canada and the US.
The Breast Days incorporates a course for physicians specializing in the field offered in partnership with regional associations and for medical professionals in the Middle East area.
The event was sponsored by the Directorate of Health Affairs in Jeddah, among others.
