Highlighting the results, BRJ executive director in Saudi Arabia Abdulrahman Al-Fihaid announced that the productive household program had created 5,864 jobs. Based on the microfinance concept, the program provides an interest-free loan of SR5,000 to a small group of women to start their own micro projects, such as selling accessories, embroidery and perfumes.
The small projects finance program created 656 jobs. It provides young men and women with interest-free loans up to SR150,000 to achieve their new or existing projects.
The direct employment program created 2,741 jobs during the third quarter — 1,763 for men and 978 for women. The program matches between job seekers and jobs available at private sector companies, and introduces companies to qualified job seekers. Most jobs created were that of production worker, salesman, security guard and female sales representative.
BRJ created 236 jobs in the training ending with employment program, which offers young men and women training to sharpen their skills in areas required by the labor market and ends with job opportunities in the private sector. Training courses included mechanical and electrical engineering, welding and makeup.
Through the taxi and truck ownership programs, BRJ created 109 and 42 job opportunities respectively. In these programs, young Saudis own their vehicles, which they use to transport passengers, goods, vegetables and equipment, after payment in installments.
As part of BRJ programs, Nafisa Shams Academy for Arts and Crafts provided training for 130 female trainees in different fields, including soap production, secretarial work and tailoring. In addition, jobs were created for 111 females through the work from home program, in which women produce approximately 2,000 prayer rugs every month.
“Through BRJ, we seek to create job opportunities for young Saudis. We cooperate with several governmental bodies, such as the Human Resources Development Fund, the Saudi Credit and Saving Bank, the Ministry of Labor and the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation,” Al-Fihaid said.
