The Court of Tax Appeals said in a statement made public
Friday that it issued arrest warrants for former military budget officer
Jacinto Ligot and his wife, Erlinda.
They are charged with failing to file tax returns from 2001
to 2004 and not paying about $10 million in taxes.
Ligot is among several retired officers who were
investigated by the Senate on suspicion of pocketing government funds and
buying property in the United States.
Ligot and his wife have denied any wrongdoing but refused to
answer senators’ questions in detail.
The United States early this year gave the government
$132,000 from the Ligots’ forfeited US property.
