The fate of Longines and the village of Saint-Imier has thus been closely interwoven. Today, with The Longines Saint-Imier Collection, the brand is launching a series of exceptional timepieces in the name of Saint-Imier to pay tribute to its almost 180 years of watchmaking heritage. Inspired by the foundations of the brand's watchmaking tradition, these exceptional timepieces fitted with mechanical movements have traveled from Saint-Imier, the place where Longines was founded and still remains, to the modern international metropolis of Shanghai, where they are unveiled to the world for the first time.
Kate Winslet, Longines Ambassador of Elegance and Oscar-awarded best actress, visited Shanghai for the first time to show up at the global premiere of The Longines Saint-Imier Collection and to personally inaugurate the discovery journey of the exhibition "Longines in Saint-Imier: A multi-sensory journey into watchmaking tradition."
The foundations of the watchmaking tradition on which the brand is built have inspired the collection. The new collection has sprung from the fertile area that constitutes the watchmaking heritage of its home territory. All this is presented in the exhibition, which provides an all-around, multi-sensory, dynamic discovery to of the place where the long-lasting watch making tradition of Longines started.
