The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and the Local Coordination Committees, a key activist network, say four were killed when security forces fired on a funeral in the Barzeh district of Damascus.
The funeral was for a fifth man who was shot dead by security forces earlier in the day.
Three others were killed in the southern village of Inkhel and two in the central city of Homs, where security raids and arrests continued Wednesday as part of a weeklong crackdown in the area.
The UN human rights office says more than 3,500 people have been killed since the uprising against President Bashar Assad began eight months ago.
