King Khalid Award for the late crown prince

RIYADH: The late Crown Prince Sultan was posthumously awarded the King Khalid Award for national achievement of the year on Monday.
Prince Sultan's achievements in the philanthropic and humanitarian fields, particularly those contributing to the development of society, were honored.
At a press conference at King Khalid Foundation (KKF) in Riyadh, the award committee’s chairman Asir Gov. Prince Faisal bin Khalid outlined the many achievements of Prince Sultan.
He also paid tribute to the late crown prince’s efforts in supporting a number of chairs and pieces of research at various universities in the Kingdom.
The chairman also announced the winners of the other branches of the award. He expressed satisfaction over the positive impact the award has had on society through the support it offers for distinguished achievements, businesses and social initiatives.
Prince Faisal stressed that foundation would continue to support the government's efforts in supporting philanthropic, social and development work to enhance social responsibility.
“The King Khalid Foundation aims through this award to follow in the footsteps of the late King Khalid in encouraging institutional, social and voluntary work and honor individuals, businessmen, researchers and establishments working in this field,” said Prince Faisal. He added that the foundation also supports development and social research and studies that serves society and encourages social responsibility in the private sector.
King Khalid Award (KKA) was established in 2004 by KKF. The award honors national achievements, whether they are inventions, discoveries or all types of work that contributes to developing Saudi society.
The award includes four prizes for national achievement, social sciences, social projects, and responsible competitiveness.
Winners receive SR1 million for national achievement, SR750,000 for social sciences and SR750,000 for social projects. They receive certificates, a medallion and a trophy. The KKA for responsible competitiveness is a discretionary one awarded to three establishments in the private sector for distinguished social contributions.
