It will take place on the sidewalk behind the Hilton from 9 a.m., said Maha Juffali, executive director of VSA arts-KSA.
The project, which is in its sixth year, will feature at least 300 people with disabilities from more than 13 specialist centers and schools in Jeddah, as well as 160 supervisors and volunteers.
She said the aim of the event is to encourage greater understanding and awareness of disability issues.
She added “Color Your Pavement” provides an opportunity for everyone to color the sidewalk and pavements and is a day where all are invited to express themselves publicly and use the medium of art as a universal and all-encompassing form of human communication.
Different venues have been used in previous years. In 2006, VSA arts-KSA used the pedestrian area of Bugshan Plaza in downtown Jeddah.
In 2007, the project was carried out in the historic site of Berhat Bab Jadid in the old Jeddah area.
“We always try to choose a public venue that will allow people to easily interact and share this wonderful experience with the participants, as this is the entire aim of this activity, to encourage integration and public awareness,” said Juffali.
Similar activities are happening across the Kingdom.
