The project is expected to be completed in 2016.
It consists of an 11-story building that includes clinics, educational facilities, specialized and support sections, nursing units, diagnosis laboratories, operation theaters and a helipad site.
Drake & Scull Saudi is the MEP arm of Drake & Scull International (DSI) in the Kingdom and a regional market leader in integrated design, engineering and the construction disciplines of Civil Contracting, Water & Power and MEP.
The announcement comes a week after DSI announced its latest SR352 million commercial development project award in Riyadh.
The execution of the MEP package will start immediately.
The Kingdom’s health care sector is a key growth market for DSI as the government and private sector are investing aggressively to expand the capacity of local hospitals and other medical facilities to meet the growing health care needs of the Kingdom's growing population.
In 2011, state budget, health and social affairs accounted for 11.8 percent of the total government expenditure, representing an increase of 12.3 percent from the previous year.
Khaldoun Tabari, CEO of DSI, said the new high-stakes project in Damman is certainly a strong affirmation of DSI's success in delivering custom-built MEP services and the company's reputation as the preferred integrated engineering service provider in the region's health care sector.
“We have been appointed to undertake the project based on our studied engineering solutions that allow us to help operators of health care facilities develop the scope and budget for the project based on the health care program and services provided,” said Tabari.
The CEO said: “We understand that the development of health care facilities is becoming very complex, particularly in light of the need to ensure continuity in the provision of critical health care services. Our focus on quality, sustainability and safety enable us to deliver a holistic integrated engineering approach that meets the current and future needs of KSA's growing health care sector.”
