The project, located 17 km from Qaisumah airport, covers an area of 100 million square meters.
A statement from MODON said the governorate offers many economic benefits such as logistics. It is considered a conjunction point for visitors from the GCC, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon because a number of major highways pass through it.
The scope of the project includes the following:
• Surveying and designing works of roads
• Soil leveling and pavement of roads
• Asphalting of roads
• Painting of roads and traffic signs
The governorate is also characterized as livestock trading center. This will provide a resource for a number of industrial and logistical projects related to the meat, fodder and textiles.
The first phase will cover one million square meters. The contract duration is 18 months.
A recent study found that the project area is a suitable site for logistic services such as transportation, storage, cooling, maintenance and exchange of trucks. It is strategically located near the borders of Kuwait and Iraq and the highway heading toward Jordan and Syria.
The industrial city is 95 km away from the Kuwaiti border.
The existing industrial cities of MODON accommodate more than 3,000 factories with investments exceeding SR250 billion and employing more than 300, 000 workers.
MODON’s efforts are also aimed at creating a conducive environment for developing and upgrading technology zones in the Kingdom. MODON is currently overseeing two technology zones and six private industrial cities.
Electricity, water and fuel costs are subsidized by the government. Industrial enterprises can receive bank loans of up to 75 percent of the capital at a 20-year repayment period.
In addition, there are other incentives to subsidize exports such as warranties and special tariff for imports of raw materials and machinery.
