The meet began with the recitation of a few verses from the Holy Qur’an by Master Syed Mohammed of class XI. The school Principal Syed Masood Ahmed welcomed the august gathering. Akhtar hoisted the school flag and the House flags were hoisted by the respective Housemasters.
In the briskly conducted March past, led by the school Head Boy Dawood Arif, with the chief guest taking the salute. Tousif Patel, the sports secretary administered the oath to the participants to respect the laws that govern the games and to participate in true spirit of sportsmanship. The chief guest lit the sports torch and passed it over to Nikhil Ramesh, the individual champion of under 19 in the cluster meet held at Jubail.
The torch was borne around the arena by the athletes Faris Ayoob, M. Sami Abdullah and Manush Mohan, who took part in the recently concluded CBSE National Athletic Championship and Football Championship.
The chief guest declared the annual athletic meet open and various athletic events were held. It began with the spectacular skate display of VI-VIII BS. The morning featured a range of events from sprint to relay and the participants took part with fervor and enthusiasm and fought for the honor of their houses.
Seven hundred athletes took part in different categories — under 19, under 16, under 14 and under 12 — representing Red, Blue, Yellow and Green Houses. The hallmark of the day was the tug of war between the teachers of VI-XII and the Cabinet members of the school. In this exciting event the staff team with Principal Ahmed as the captain won against the school Cabinet team captained by Dawood Arif.
Green House from IX –XII and Red House from VI-VIII block basked in glory by bagging the overall championship trophy with 229 points and 148 points respectively.
Nikhil Ramesh of class XI of Red House, Hijaz of class XI of Blue House and Muhammed Nihal of class X of Red House (under 19), Akash Kumar of class X from Green House (under16), M A Hakeem of Class VII of Yellow House (under 14) and Shahid Chalil of class VI of Yellow House (under 12) emerged as the Individual champions of the meet.
In the prize distribution ceremony the winners were honored by the chief guest, the school principal, the vice principal, the COE, the Housemasters and the HMs of various blocks.
